I've been talking a lot about time management lately. It's truly incredible how apparent the holes in our productivity become when we put forth a focused effort to itemize and analyze the use of our time. But what are we supposed to do with all this info?
It's easy to look at the dead time in our schedules and reflect on all the things we could have, or should have been doing. But productivity comes with its own brand of baggage. More business means more task work, more client needs, more late night texts and emails. When we pour gas on the fire the flames don't just get bigger, they get hotter as well.
I asked my team this week to take their Ah-Ha's from our time management exercise and spend time thinking deeply about how they can double their businesses? What would need to happen to pend twice as many deals this month as you did last. Or, even better, in a reality where that's already happened, what unfolded to make it possible?
The answers to these questions are going to involve some basic answers, of course. To do more deals we need to stop scrolling through Facebook and double our led gen. Instead of stopping in for coffee alone, we need to deep our relationships and spend more time catching up with our sphere. But what happens when that works?
That means more showings, more listing appointments, more negotiations, more paperwork, more screen time. And this is where we can truly start to leverage. Doubling your business may require an assistant. It may require a transaction coordinator or marketing director. It may even require more killer agents like yourself!
But we'll never get there if we don't increase our productivity in the first place. That's why this is such a powerful thought exercise. How do we make the mental connection between turning off Netflix and tremendously scaling our business? Gaining clarity around these ideas is one of the biggest differences between those that succeed at a high level and those that struggle to breakthrough to the next level.
So what do you need to do to double your business. Think about it deeply, honestly, realistically, and then make it happen.
